​Vanessa is a chaser of light and a catcher of moments. Her formal eduction is a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Nevada, Reno, but her heart is in photography.

 

Vanessa isn't sure her work can be categorized in any one way, but it has been described as, "Life as she sees it" and "shot from the heart". Perhaps photo-journalistic or lifestyle, if you want to get technical. She loves capturing children, families, baby bumps, the babies that emerge from said bumps, high school students embarking on new adventures, couples who are in love, as well as drool worth food and drink. Vanessa has taken head shots and stock photography for several local Reno businesses, and might even shoot at your event if you ask nicely and promise her cake or a pint of beer at the end of the gig.

Vanessa is a Getty Images Contributor, a "muse" on the Mortal Muses blog and contributes regularly to the Film Shooters Collective website. Her writing and photography appear regularly ​on the Reno Moms Blog and  the Creative Coalition of Midtown blog.​

​

She is in her third consecutive year of a 365 project where she shoots (at least) one photo a day. This year her challenge and focus has been self portraiture. She hopes this process of turning the camera on herself will not only keep her on her creative toes, but also help her understand what it's like to be on the other side of the lens.

​When not playing "Mommy" or "photographer", you might find Vanessa balancing on a yoga mat (she's a certified yoga instructor) or running the trails of Reno. For fun and memory making, Vanessa and her crew pack up “Pop-up Penny” and go exploring all over Nevada and California.
